Audit Accountant

Position Summary

We’re seeking a dynamic Audit Accountant for our team in the Portland, Maine office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Become familiar with the firm’s policies and procedures

  • Understand the rules, regulations and code of conduct of the AICPA

  • Progress professionally by working towards passing the CPA exam

  • When assigned to financial statement engagements:

    • Become familiar with FASB, and AICPA pronouncements

    • Become proficient at preparing financial statements

    • Obtain exposure on the types of financial statement engagements offered by the firm

    • Assume responsibility for completion of compilations and review of financial statements

    • Perform audits of financial statements in accordance with professional and firm standards under the supervision of more experienced staff

    • Communicate with clients and firm personnel in a timely and professional manner

    • Flexibility to assist the Tax Department as needed during the Tax season

      Qualifications and Requirements

  • Accounting majors are encouraged to apply if they are completing their degree by December 2024 or May 2025 and have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA

  • Candidates with 150 credit hours at graduation are preferred, but not required

  • Candidates interested in studying/preparing for the CPA exam are preferred, but not required

  • Degree in Accounting, preferred

  • Master’s of Science Degree in Accounting is a plus

  • Strong compliance and accounting skills

  • Strong analytical, writing, and organizational skills

  • Solid interpersonal and customer service skills

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet tight deadline in a high-energy environment

  • Leadership ability with a positive team player attitude
